A guide to Better Quality Music.

Gain Staging
Gain Staging -> We need to make sure the gain is set in a way that records our voice clean with a low noise floor, but also doesn’t clip. Clipping is when the mic signal goes into the red and will cause distortion.
Our goal is to never hit the red “clipping” this will cause distortion in your vocals.
To stop clipping you should test your gain levels before recording with your gain halfway up.
Now if you do hit the red. Like we did. Cut your gain in half from where you’re at and try again. If the new take is clipping turn it down more and try again.
Tip. Even if you don’t hit red try and give yourself extra headroom space in case you get excited and do get louder.
